At least one Melrose Place alumnae is returning for the remake which starts shooting next week. Laura Leighton will be returning as the scheming Sydney Andrews in the CW’s new version of the show.
Sydney will reportedly play landlord to the new crop of tenants which will include celebrity mom Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.
Leighton is married to her former Melrose co-star / current Desperate Housewives star Doug Savant. The couple have two children, Jack and Lucy.

To the delight of his strong Aussie fan base, Zac Efron took to the red carpet for the Australian premiere of “17 Again” on Wednesday (March 11).
Spending almost an hour signing autographs and posing for photos at the Entertainment Quarter in Sydney, the Disney hunk was joined by country darling Taylor Swift, who had performed in Melbourne the previous evening.“I have a great time whenever I come here,” Efron told press while on the red carpet, adding, “It’s amazing weather, fantastic fans, there’s so many familiar faces. I recognize like half of these girls from previous premieres.”
Revealing that while he wished girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens could’ve made it, he was happy to have Taylor by his side, Zac said, “She’s a lovely, lovely girl.”
Earlier in the day, the 22-year-old was spotted enjoying the sights of Sydney with an assistant – as the pair took a walk before a big boat ride.
