Sir Elton John scrapped a sell-out gig in Britain at short notice on Friday night (23Oct09) after falling ill with influenza.The Rocket Man was due to play to more than 13,000 fans at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England but pulled out just hours before he was due to take the stage for his Red Piano show.
He has always enjoyed a tremendous reaction from the audiences every time he has performed at the Arena
A spokesman for the star put the cancellation down to a serious bout of flu.

Public Enemies star, Johnny Depp has reportedly purchased a mansion in Bath and is now visiting private schools in the area. He is looking for a place to send his two children, Lily Rose, 10, and Jack, seven whom he had with French singer Vanessa Paradis.
The 46-year-old actor will most likely pick one in the next few weeks so his kids can be enrolled in time for the start of the new academic year in September.

Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with cancer today.The 62-year-old American actress passed away with family and friends by her side, her spokesman confirmed.The devout Catholic had been read her last rites this morning.In a statement, a spokesman said Farrah had ‘passed to a better place and left the pain and confines of her bed behind’.
Fawcett was rushed into intensive care last night from her West Hollywood home to a nearby hospital.Fiancé Ryan O’Neal and best friend, actress Alana Stewart, who produced the reality documentary charting her battle with the illness, were among those with her in her last hours.However her son Redmond O’Neal, 24, who is currently in jail on a drug rehab programme, was not able to be present.
Fawcett was originally diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2006, and believed she had beaten it after surgery and a course of chemotherapy.However, the disease returned the following year, and despite experimental treatment in Germany, spread to her liver.Last month, Fawcett’s treatment ended. Bald and bedridden, she returned home to the Malibu mansion she shared with Love Story actor O’Neal.The news comes just two days after the Charlies’ Angels star was released from hospital following a brief stay.

It appears as if another celebrity has found themselves involved in a sex tape scandal, as “Gossip Girl” actress Leighton Meester is causing quite the stir in the tabloid world.
Allegedly having a sex tape on the market, TMZ reports that the steamy video was shot years ago with Leighton nude in some scenes, including a scene where Meester shows off her foot-skills. A Web site is currently negotiating deals for the video at the moment, with spokesman Kevin Blatt saying, “We’ve seen the tape and we’re hoping to close the deal.”
As far as Meester’s party in concerned, no comments have been made up to this point.

Of becoming a man, Bono’s spokesman told TMZ, “Yes, it’s true – Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity.”“He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz’s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his ‘coming out’ did nearly 20 years ago,” Howard Bragman continues.
Chastity’s rep adds, “We ask that the media respect Chaz’s privacy during this long process as he will not be doing any interviews at this time.”
