Madonna Is Raising Malawi”id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398362590211781362″ />Madonna travels with her children Lourdes Leon, Mercy James and David Banda, to vist the Mphandu la Orphanage in the Namitete area outside Lilongwe, Malawi on Thursday (October 29).
The 51-year-old entertainer attended the ground breaking ceremony for the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.
Madonna recently blogged to urge people to join her cause.

Madonna has issued her first statement since a judge approved her appeal to adopt three-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James from Malawi.
“I am extremely grateful for the Supreme Court’s ruling on my application to adopt Mercy James,” Madonna says through her spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg.
“I am ecstatic.

Madonna has won her appeal to adopt 3-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James from an Malawian appeals court.
“It’s the wee hours of morning in New York, but she is excited at the news,” says Madonna’s lawyer Alan Chinula. “As her lawyer, I am happy that this has settled this contentious issue.”
Mercy is expected to join her new mom as early as mid-week.

In a dramatic reversal of fortune, Madonna’s adoption of Mercy James from Malawi is moving forward again.
According the the British newspaper, The Sun, three judges in an appeals court ruled in the popstars favor.

A judge in Malawi has rejected Madonna’s bid to adopt a 4-year-old orphan girl from that African country.

Malawi officials have confirmed that Madonna is in the process of adoption a 3-year-old girl from the African country.
The girl is reportedly named Mercy James.

Madonna is seeking to expand her family by adopting a second child from the impoverished African country of Malawi.
An official at the Malawi welfare department has confirmed to the Associated Press that the singer, 50, has filed adoption papers.

Madonna’s plans to adopt another child are in tatters because she is getting divorced.
The ‘4 Minutes’ singer – who announced her split from director Guy Ritchie last month – has been in negotiations with officials in Malawi for two years to care for three-year-old Mercy James but has now reportedly been told she will not be allowed to adopt the girl because they do not approve of children being placed with single or recently divorced parents.
Penston Kilembe, Malawi’s director of Child Welfare Services, told Grazia magazine: “One fundamental condition in scrutinising adoptions is the connectedness of a family.
